Who we are

Ostan Locksmiths is a mobile automotive and motorcycle locksmith operating across Werribee and the Wyndham area in Victoria. You can reach us on 0410 380 354 or at Michael@ostanlock.com.au.

This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to quote and carry out the job.

  • When you use a quote or contact form: your name, phone number, the make, model and year of your vehicle, and the service you need. The page you submitted from is recorded so we know what you were reading.
  • When you call or email us: whatever you choose to tell us, usually your name, contact number, vehicle details and location.
  • When we attend a job: proof that the vehicle is yours. For key replacement and lockout work we are required to sight identification and evidence of ownership, such as a licence and a registration document. We check these at the vehicle. We do not retain copies unless we are required to for a specific job record.
  • When you browse the site: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, collected through website analytics.

Why we collect it

  • To give you a price and arrange a time.
  • To find you and complete the work on your vehicle.
  • To confirm you are entitled to have keys made for, or access to, the vehicle.
  • To keep a record of work performed, and to follow up if there is a problem with a key we supplied.
  • To understand which pages of this website are useful, so we can improve them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for marketing purposes. Your details are shared only where it is necessary to run the business or where the law requires it:

  • Our website host and email provider, who store form submissions and messages on our behalf.
  • Google Analytics, which provides anonymised statistics about how this website is used.
  • A spam filtering service, which checks form submissions to block automated abuse.
  • Law enforcement, where we are lawfully required to assist. Because of the nature of vehicle key work, we may be asked to confirm details of a job.

Cookies and embedded content

This site uses cookies to keep the site working properly and to collect anonymous usage statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may not behave as expected if you do.

Pages on this site include an embedded Google Map. Google may set its own cookies and collect data when that map loads. That collection is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, not ours.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into a job are kept only as long as they are useful, then deleted. Records of completed work are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them, including for warranty questions on a key we supplied and to meet our tax and legal obligations.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This website is served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of information sent over the internet.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call 0410 380 354 or email Michael@ostanlock.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The current version is always the one published here.
