A motorcycle ignition takes more abuse than a car one. It sits out in the weather, it is small, and every rider leans on it a little when the steering lock is under load.
We repair, rebuild and replace bike ignition barrels at the bike, for road bikes, scooters and dirt bikes. Call before you force it again.
Ignition and lock faults across road bikes, scooters and dirt bikes:
Often the key is the problem, not the barrel. A worn blade puts uneven load on the wafers and slowly destroys them.
We clean out corrosion and replace worn wafers, keeping your existing key working rather than handing you a second one.
When a barrel is genuinely past saving we fit a new one and key it to match your seat and fuel cap wherever the bike allows.
A stiff barrel is usually one of three things: a worn key chewing the wafers, corrosion from weather exposure, or wear in the barrel itself. The first is the cheapest to fix and the most common. Ignoring it is how keys snap off, which is a considerably bigger job.
That is the warning. Dealing with it now costs far less than an extraction and a rebuild later.
Replacing a motorcycle ignition barrel outright often means a new lock set with a different key, so you end up carrying one key for the ignition and another for the seat and fuel cap. That is a poor outcome, and usually avoidable.
Where the barrel can be saved we strip it, clean out the corrosion, replace worn wafers and rebuild it to your existing key. You keep one key that operates everything.

Usually. Most stiff barrels come good with a strip, clean and new wafers, rebuilt to your existing key. We only replace when the barrel is genuinely past saving.
Not if we can avoid it. We rebuild or key the replacement to your current key wherever the bike allows, so one key still works the ignition, seat and fuel cap.
Usually not, provided nobody has tried to dig it out. We extract the fragment along the keyway with the right tools and in most cases the barrel is fine.
Yes. Scooters, including shutter-lock systems, and dirt bikes are both regular work for us alongside road bikes.
