Why the hardware shop said no
Most modern car keys are laser cut, with a milled track down the centre of the blade rather than teeth on the edge, and that needs a specialised high-security machine most hardware counters do not carry. Many of those same keys also hide a transponder chip in the head, so even a perfect cut will not start the car until it is paired to the immobiliser. We carry both the high-security cutting machines and the programming equipment, so neither half of the job needs a second appointment.
